Booze Hounds Bluegrass

bluegrass

Booze Hounds Bluegrass is an Indianapolis-based band that plays originals alongside bluegrass arrangements of Americana, country, folk and blues standards. It began in 2017 as a duo of lead singer and guitarist Eric Lee Reel and Louie Morris. Mandolinist Alec Bohuk joined in 2021, and after Morris left to pursue a career in law enforcement the group continued as a trio with Taylor Williams on upright bass. It has since grown to five pieces with Joe Fawcett on fiddle and Lucas Williams on guitar; Reel also plays banjo, and all five members sing, with the band putting particular weight on tight vocal harmony. Original songs in the repertoire include Ernie's Homemade Wine, Railroad Bound and Naked Neighbor. Banjo player Jon Black and mandolinist Joe Land sit in often enough that the band lists them as honorary members. Booze Hounds Bluegrass works a central Indiana circuit of bars, breweries, American Legion halls, museums and regional festivals, including dates in Brown County and at the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous, and made its Indianapolis debut at the Mousetrap.
